SUMMARY:Gestalt Approach to Psychopathology - 1/3 Weekend on Orø
DESCRIPTION:The Basics of Psychopathology – a Gestalt Therapy Approach: In 2021\, Gestalt Institute of Scandinavia (GIS-International) are arranging training in the basics of psychopathology at Orø in Denmark. The workshops offer the possibility to discuss and learn about major clinical issues and to find new understanding of the sufferin\, that characterizes modern societies. This approach to psychopathology and diagnosis connects clinical practice to the wider social phenomena. \nThe training\, which consists of three long weekend workshops over a period of eight months\, will take place at Hegnegaarden – the home of GIS-International located at Orø in Denmark. It will be run in English by experienced senior trainers from France and Italy. We welcome professional Gestalt therapists from Denmark and the rest of Europe to participate in this series of interesting workshops! \nWhat: Psychopathology Training with Gestalt Approach\nWhen: 3 Weekends in the Period of March – September 2021\nWhere: Hegnegaarden\, Orø\, Denmark\nWho: Gestalt Therapists or Students at the Last part of the Gestalt Training\nTrainers: Margherita Spagnuolo Lobb\, Gianni Francesetti & Jean-Marie Robine \nThe leaders of these workshops are senior International trainers; Margherita Spagnuolo Lobb director of Istituto di Gestalt HCC (Italy)\, Gianni Francesetti director of Instituto Internationale di Psicopatologia e Psicoterapia della Gestalt (Italy) and Jean-Marie Robine former director of\nInstitut Francais de Gestalt-Thérapie (France). \nThe Italian training institutes are today widely recognized for further developing the principles of Gestalt therapy especially in terms of the ongoing dialogue with the demands of contemporary society and emerging sufferings. Jean-Marie Robine who contributes to training programs in a number of countries was the director of Institut Français de Gestalt-thérapie from 1980 to 2007. All trainers are actively contributing to the development of Gestalt therapy and are authors of many articles and books. \n“As Gestalt Therapists\, how can we Approach Psychopathology and Diagnosis?”\n“How is the Understanding of Clinical Issues Enhanced by our Radical Contact-Boundary Perspective?”\n“How Does our Theory Open New Horizons on Human Suffering and Contemporary Disturbances?” \nThe schedule of the psychopathology workshops:\nWORKSHOP 1: “Narcissistic and borderline experiences: advancements in Gestalt therapy”\nDATES: Friday March 5th – Sunday March 7th\, 2021: \n\nFriday 9:00-18:30 (lunchbreak 13:00-14:00)\nSaturday 9:00-18:30 (lunchbreak 13:00-14:00)\nSunday 9:00-14:00 (lunchbreak 13:00-14:00)\nLOCATION: Hegnegaarden\, Næsbyvej 28\, 4305 Orø\, Denmark\n\nDESCRIPTION: The first workshop will be led by psychologist and psychotherapist Margherita Spagnuolo Lobb\, who is the founder and current director of Istituto di Gestalt HCC. She invites us to look at relational disturbances which emerge from social change. Clinical evidence is today on depressive disturbances\, or narcissistic and borderline experiences\, gender identity\, anxiety disturbances and body desensitization. In this seminar narcissistic and borderline experiences will be approached\, and the traumatic basic experiences in these personality disorders will be described and seen in clinical examples. \nWORKSHOP 2: “Absence Is a Bridge Between Us. Gestalt Therapy with Depressive Experiences.”\nDATES: Friday June 25th – Sunday June 27th\, 2021: \n\nFriday 9:00-18:30 (lunchbreak 13:00-14:00)\nSaturday 9:00-18:30 (lunchbreak 13:00-14:00)\nSunday 9:00-14:00 (lunchbreak 13:00-14:00)\nLOCATION: Hegnegaarden\, Næsbyvej 28\, 4305 Orø\, Denmark\n\nDESCRIPTION: The second workshop will be given by psychiatrist and Gestalt therapist Gianni Francesetti. According to the WHO\, depression is currently the fourth most urgent global health problem. Therapists need to find orientation as to what risks\, resources\, tools or therapeutic position\, for example\, they have to be able to consider when and how to work with depressive experiences. Apart from theoretical frames\, practical experiences will be explored and discussed from a Gestalt therapy perspective. The goal is to provide practical skills to improve the competences of psychotherapists working with this common form of suffering. \nWORKSHOP 3: “Anxiety and Shame”\nDATES: Friday September 24th – Sunday September 26th\, 2021: \n\nFriday 9:00-18:30 (lunchbreak 13:00-14:00)\nSaturday 9:00-18:30 (lunchbreak 13:00-14:00)\nSunday 9:00-14:00 (lunchbreak 13:00-14:00)\nLOCATION: Hegnegaarden\, Næsbyvej 28\, 4305 Orø\, Denmark\n\nDESCRIPTION: The third workshop will be led by French psychologist and psychotherapist Jean-Marie Robine. In the first part of the workshop we will look at how anxiety interrupts or disturbs the gestalt sequence and allows specific disturbing modalities of contact to “enter the dance” in a specific moment. Jean-Marie Robine has researched and written extensively on shame. He is especially interested in how the therapeutic situation activates or creates shame in the client: “It is the gaze of the other which produces the shame”. In the second part of this both theoretical and experiential workshop shame will also relate to the Gestalt therapy approach to field perspective and a Gestalt therapy theory of affects and emotions. \nPARTICIPANTS:\nA maximum of 25 participants will be accepted for this training. Previous training in gestalt therapy and a minimum of clinical experience is required. \nPRICE:\n\nFee for all 3 weekends: 10.800 DKK 1.460 Euro\nAccommodation for all 3 weekends all inclusive:\n\nDouble room per participant 7.125 DKK 760 Euro\nSingle room 9.375 DKK 1.260 Euro\n\n\n\nSIGN UP:\nDeadline for sign up is January 1st 2021.\nSign up by sending a mail to gis@GIS-International.dk or call +45 59 47 00 17. \nDownload Event as PDF

Assignment purpose is to learn to use the biographical method and practically\nassess client’s development\, it’s status and developmental needs.\nDeadline: before final exam. The interview paper is prerequisite for taking the final exam.\nSize and format: 5-7 pages; ordinary font and shrift (for example: Arial 10 or 11\, Times New\nRoman 12\, Calibri 11\, etc.).\nYour work should show a reference list and the length of your interview(s).\nSend to: Karmel.Tall@ut.ee; subject: developmental psychology\n\nFor an interview choose one adult person. Choose for an interview a person who in general is coping\nwith his/her life well\, is active and who has no mental health or other disabling diseases. Try to open\nthe background of his/her coping in life (people\, places\, and events)\, the most important turning\npoints in life. Analyze the past and present risks. Pay attention to the family life cycle: birth\,\nchildhood\, separation from family of origin\, family created by him/herself. Rely mainly on one theory\nof development (e.g.\, E. Erikson psychosocial theory)\, complementing it with various other theories\nthat cover different aspects of development (e.g. moral development described by Kohlberg L\, etc.).\nThe theory is just a skeleton around which the story evolves and structures. The written text should\nbe more expressive and vivid than rigidly following the theory. \nImportant!\n\nAvoid judgmental expressions (judgmental way of thinking).\nAim to use correct\, professional language (as you would use with your colleagues in\npsychotherapy field).\nAim to achieve a logical whole. Imagine yourself as a reader who has no knowledge of\ndevelopmental psychology and its theories\, ask yourself\, whether the result is believable and\nunderstandable?\n\nStructure\n\nPersonal information – to such an extent that identification is not possible.\nDevelopmental factors that are not under the influence of interviewee/client\, independent\ndevelopmental factors: ethnicity\, place of birth\, environment for development in childhood –\nthe socio-economic status and family lifestyle\, the terms of culture and education\,\npsychological environment in the family – immediate and extended family and significant\nothers\, upbringing.\nFactors of development dependent on the person: health and physical training\, personal\n(self-) development\, lifestyle.\nPassed developmental stages (biological\, cognitive\, moral\, personality\, relational factors)\nwhether according to Erikson\, Havighurst or other or combined scheme.\nThe current status of personal lifecycle and developmental trend (tendency\, direction): coping\, health\, the balance between needs and opportunities-capacities\, values\, manifestation of learned helplessness.\nThe need for an intervention by psychotherapist or other professional? Possible method for intervention?\n\nClearly distinguish where a statement comes from: the client said…\, I think …\, the course text states\nthat…\, the relative or a family member of a client said… etc. \nEthics\nYour interview should not disturb your client’s sense of security. It is important to build a trusting\nrelationship before taking an interview! Complete anonymity of the client – use a pseudonym in your\nwriting. Explain to your client how he/she is protected. The less the client trusts the interviewer\, the\nless important information is provided. If the client has had experiences that he/she tries to avoid\ntalking about\, it is important to use your knowledge from gestalt-studies and help the client to share\nhis/her experiences with you. If that does not work\, your written paper should show what were the\nperiods of your client’s life that he/she did not want to talk about. The client has the right to see\nwritten information about him/her. \nImplementation of Theories of Development\nAvoid the transfer of client’s emphasis and viewpoints to your writing. Your knowledge of theoretical\nbackground helps you to focus on essential developmental factors that the client could not have\nstated. Keep in mind that there are two parallel sets of data: first\, your client’s developmental\nprocess and secondly\, the phases\, characteristics and processes construed by the theory. Aim to\ncompare the two sets of data. For example\, expression could be this way: “The manifestations in the\nclient history suggest the developmental phase (crisis\, problem\, etc.) according to this author”.

Also\, the last evening at the seminar we usually have a party. \nAccommodation\nAccommodation will be in double rooms. Showers/toilets are in the hallway. During the seminar there will be some small practical assignments like preparing and cleaning after lunch and dinner and emptying the dishwasher. \nThe students’ stay at the farm is informal and relaxed – good surroundings for development\, presence and being together.

SUMMARY:Authenticity and Passion in Life - a week in Estonia - Canceled due to Coronavirus
DESCRIPTION:Canceled due to Coronavirus\nDo you want more in your life?\nThis course will give you an intensive week of learning and growing. You will get a new insight working with Gestalt methodology\, which is existential\, relational and emotional. \nDuring this seminar\, we use techniques\, which support you to realize new sides of your personality. You will discover how other people really experience you\, and with growing awareness you choose ways to be\nmore alive in your life. You will be able to feel your wellbeing in allowing yourself to be more present in the Now. And you will discover\, how you put up filters between what you really want and what you allow yourself to do. You will discover your inner patterns and find ways to challenge them. \nMaybe for the first time you have the keys to change in your hand and will realize\, how you  yourself can create change and development. This you won’t forget. The course is an eyeopener both emotionally and intellectually. \nWe see this as a process of awareness that make you conscious of your self-worth\, your personal platform\, and your spontaneous life passion – and at the same time this process gives you a frame of understanding life and relationships. \nBoth theory and praxis\nGestalt Methodology has its roots in solid theory and praxis. We see praxis as a way to understand and integrate theory. First you experience and feel\, then put words to your awareness. You will experience and learn to stay in the Now together with other people. During the seminar\, you will be doing group-work in big and small groups. Individual work\, where you and the therapist work together also takes place. You will deeply integrate what you have experienced and felt. \nThe Certified Training programs\nBecause the course includes both practical therapeutic work\, reflection and learning\, it also counts as qualification to the European Certified GIS-International Training program to becoming a Gestalt Psychotherapist. \nSeminar Fee\nSeminar fee for the pre-training seminar: \n\nNordic Participants: 5.800 DKK\, 780 EUR\nBaltic Participants: 4.060 DKK\, 546 EUR\n\nWe offer an Early bird signing-up before February 15th\, 2020 on 10% off the fee!. \nCost for Airport Transfer\nCost for transfer bus to and from Vihula is: \n\nNordic 200 DKK\, 25 EUR\nEstonian 150 DKK\, 20 EUR\n\nCost for Accommodation\nDouble room: DKK Euro\nNordic: 4.700 635\nBaltic: 3.760 510\nSingle room: 6.240 840 \nRegistration\nRegistration by e-mail to gis@gis-international.com.
