Creative Expressiveness and Personal Leadership for Actors and Instructors of Theatre

2-year Foundation Program

Actors and Instructors – an education targeted for people of theatre

The education is a 2-year Gestalt Training Program in Creative Expressiveness and Personal Leadership for Actors and Instructors of Theatre.

The aim of the 2-year training for actors and directors is through individual work and group work to integrate Gestalt methodology and techniques in artistic expression and hereby increase the professional skills, creativity and presence in artistic performances on stage.

Gestalt methodology emphasises two important concepts in the art of acting: Presence/nowness and contact.

Management with theatre knowledge

The training program is experimental, theoretical, and practical. Each year is concluded by an evaluation.

The program includes:

  • Intensive personal development work in theory and in practice integrating Gestalt principles and methodology.
  • Experience and training in working with personal development, creativity and self expressiveness.
  • Personal and professional leadership training.
  • Direct and indirect supervision on expressive creativity and skills
  • Working with teams and learning how to increase the creativity potentials in groups.

1st part

In the 1st part of the training program the emphasis is on personal development work, relational work, leadership, and theory.

2nd part

In the 2nd part of the training program the focus is on leadership, group and individual

supervision, and theory both in group work and in individual work.

After having completed the 2-year programme you have the possibility to apply for entering the 4-year Psychotherapy Training program.

The program is headed by John Ewans Porting. John is the head of GIS-International. The program is developed in a previous collaboration with further education at the Finnish Theatre Academy in Helsinki, Finland and supported by the Nordic Council.

The program is a very active and vibrant forum, because participants bring their own personal life experience into the precense. This creates a special intensive atmosphere in the study group. And the cross-international composition allows participants to expand their professional networks.

It was Laura and Frederick Perls, who, from the 1940s onwards, developed what was to become Gestalt methodology.
